The NHL’s best were in Tampa Bay, FL over the weekend to compete in the 2018 NHL All Star Weekend.
The weekend started with the All-Star Skills Competition, where the players showcased their All-Star status in six events: Fastest Skater (winner: Connor McDavid), Passing Challenge (winner: Alex Pietrangelo), Save Streak (winner: Marc-Andre Fleury), Puck Control Relay (winner: Johnny Gaudreau), Hardest Shot (winner: Alex Ovechkin), and Accuracy Shooting (winner: Brock Boeser).
The weekend concluded with the All-Star Game on Sunday, when the players split into their divisions (Pacific, Central, Atlantic, and Metropolitan) and competed in a 3-on-3 tournament. The Pacific Division team ended up winning the tournament by defeating the Atlantic Division 5-2 in the championship game. The star of the weekend was Vancouver’s Brock Boeser, as he won the Accuracy Shooting event, was on the winning Pacific Division team, and was the first rookie since 1985 to be named the All-Star Game MVP.
